Acrylic paint, found metal, keys, acrylic paint pens on stretched canvas. This piece was inspired after reading about the enormous trash islands that are forming through the whirlpool-like eddies in all the oceans of the world - the largest being the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I began by painting the background and once that dried, I came back with blues and white paints to mimic the waves and eddy motion, as if underwater. While the paint was still wet, I began applying the metal. This was my first found-object acrylic painting. I saw using trash as art supplies as a small solution to the growing trash problems we all face.
